Getting the most from your Summer Vitamins, with Sarah Keogh

How many vitamins does it take to change a light bulb?
All of them, you need a healthy body to perform such laborious tasks, sigh.

With all the fresh foods available during the Summer months, it’s a great time to really boost your vitamins.  We tend to shy away from fruit and vegetables during the winter but summer brings back our taste for all things fresh and nutritious. Get going on boosting your vitamin levels – with some key nutrients to look out for.

Vitamin C
This vitamin is needed all year round – it fights colds and flu’s in winter but it’s also one of the most important vitamins for healthy skin.  Vitamin C is an essential part of collagen, the support structure for your skin – especially on your face.  Vitamin C also helps to protect against the damage too much sun can do your skin – although it is no substitute for a good sunscreen!  Vitamin C is found in all fresh fruit and vegetables but is at it’s highest in citrus fruits like orange, lemon and lime, in kiwis and in berries like blueberries and raspberries.

Biotin
Biotin is a little known vitamin, one of the family of B vitamins.  It is needed for healthy skin and to help your body get the best benefit from essentials oils like omega-3.  Biotin is found in many fruits and vegetables, including apples, and in eggs.
