Sweet and Soft Peaches
History in Peaches
Said to have originated in China, the earliest record of a peach is from about 10the century BC. No-one in Europe encountered a home grown peach until around 16th century AD. Japanese legend has it that the semi-historical hero Momtaro (literally translated as ‘Peach Boy’) was born in a peach, much like James, who Roald Dahl told us, lived in a peach.
The Real Deal
Peaches are fibrous and sweet fruit that some say relieves high blood pressure. In Traditional Chinese Medicine is it said to relieve dryness by moistening the lungs and intestines.
Peaches are full of great stuff, but nothing greater than all that Vitamin A and C and the natural sugars that have made the sweet fruit so popular.
In Music
Some singers like to sing songs about peaches. The Presidents of the USA sang one, it was a bit rude. The Stranglers sang another, it was even ruder. And somewhere in between, singer-songwriter and hot-headed activist, Sir Bob, named one of his children after the delicious fruit.
I think we should have an honest song about peaches, if you’ve written one please email us on fruitcakes@zumojuicebar.com
